Chicago Water Tower & Horse Carriage Ride
There is a valid reason why no people are shown in this picture. It was taken during a frigid winter day in 2005 when the temperature was 30 degrees below zero with the wind chill factor. Many years later, it continues to be a best selling black and white photograph.
There is not a more iconic symbol of Chicago's rise from the ashes of the 1871 Great Fire than the historic Water Tower. Completed in 1869, the timeless landmark witnessed the city's rebirth and nearly one and a half centuries of growth and change.
The Chicago Water Tower was the only public building in the burned zone to survive the fire and continues to stand tall at the present day.
