Navy Pier

Navy Pier & Streeterville Area

from 35.00
A ferry boat leaves the dock at Navy Pier. This picture also captures a glimpse into the old and new architecture of the Streeterville area as well as the second and fourth tallest buildings in Chicago, Trump Tower and the John Hancock.

Navy Pier was used as a navy training center during World War II and as the University of Illinois's Chicago campus from 1946-1965. In 1976, the ballroom was restored and the pier was again used for civic and cultural events. In 1989, the city and state financed further renovations, including provision of space for conferences and expositions, museums, shops, restaurants, and entertainment and recreational facilities.
